Pokemon Altered retains the structure and flow of the original FireRed adventure. Players assume the role of a Pokémon Trainer on a journey through the Kanto region, catching creatures, battling trainers and earning Gym Badges to become the Pokémon Champion.
The difference is an extensive revamping of the Pokémon roster. Instead of the traditional monsters that the players used to know, Pokemon Altered provides over 400 reworked Pokemon variants. These altered forms feature new type combinations, altered stats and different move pools, and are obtainable over multiple Pokémon generations.
Players who want more of a challenge will be able to find it in Pokemon Altered with a certain special difficulty mode called “With Gun” mode. This mode increases the difficulty by buffing the teams and adding exclusive Pokémon encounters.
Experienced players who are also fans of the original FireRed will love this mode, as it forces them to evolve past strategy that are no longer viable by Pokemon Altered’s new mechanics.
Pokemon Altered is also accessible to play for a casual audience – another reason it has built such a strong player base. The game you can run using an emulator or playable online through various internet browsers.
