PokeChill is like a digital garden of pocket monsters that become stronger as you grow them. Rock Jake does a great job setting the game in a classic 2d pixel style environment that will remind you of all the old school Pokémon type games but with a modern relaxed design style. The visuals are clearly designed to be friendly to long time fans and possibly even new comers to this art style.
PokeChill features a smooth and relaxed progression system right from the get go. Players are never hurried, so it’s a great game to play while relaxing or multitasking. When active or when idle, your team keeps evolving, which makes for a nice long term sense of accomplishment.
PokeChill strips away the complexities of strategy game with auto-rendered hexes gameplay and light strategy, making it fun and easy for everyone.
Your journey starts out by choosing a starter Pokémon. That decision defines your initial pace of development and gets you started on the fundamentals. Once chosen, you’ll be heading into the wild to come across new animals and adversaries.
Pokechill battles are automatic, but you decisions still matter. Which Pokemon you capture, train and deploy on your active team determine how efficiently you can advance. You’ll want to have a well-balanced team, so use your different strengths and types to your advantage.
When your Pokémon grow stronger through experience, they can evolve into more powerful forms. Evolution also opens up new moves and makes your team management strategy more long term. One of the most fulfilling things to do in PokeChill is watch your companions grow.
Over time you will open up more zones and each of them will bring you new challenges and enemies. These places are what keep the gameplay loop interesting and actually giving you something to.
